Today we give a shout out to Karen Thompson who is doing an absolutely incredible job with her transformation. Karen has dropped over 9kg and counting. We first introduced you to Karen back in June a fortnight after she started making changes to her nutrition. Transformations aren’t about training harder or starving yourself. Long lasting transformations are about learning about what exercise and food works for and against your body and adapting your lifestyle around these facts. You need to take a tailored approach to the individual and set up a plan that is going to work for your body, your likes and dislikes and your lifestyle. We also consider any injuries or movement restrictions you may have so we can also adapt training to suit your personal needs. This is exactly what we have done with Karen. Support is another crucial element of success. Support from coaches and peers. You need to surround yourself with like-minded people that have your success in mind. Kaz, I’m super proud of you babe! Keep up the awesome work love!!
I interviewed Karen about her journey. Here is what she had to say:
Coach Terri – Tell me about what you have done to achieve your fat loss success.
Karen – Changes I’ve made are since the 1st June – I have given up bread, chocolate, lollies, soft drink, cakes and ice cream. I am now eating 4 meals a day and including protein with every meal. I wasn’t eating breakfast as such in the morning prior to June and now most mornings is a cooked breakfast of bacon, mushrooms, spinach, snow peas, tomato and avocado.
Coach Terri – What challenges have you faced achieving your success thus far?
Karen – My sister was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in July this year and due to the stress I would have normally turned to chocolate and lollies and cake. Also making the adjustment from working 5 days a week to 1 day a week has negative effect on my mind set.
Coach Terri – How have you overcome these challenges?
Karen – Without my workout buddy Diana and the two Lisa’s (Pretty and Berry) who have been my sounding boards when I’m not doing too well I surely would have given up and not met my goal. Diana is there every day making sure I stay on track and is constantly threatening to kick me up the butt should chocolate or bread touch my lips. The two Lisa’s and Diana are there every day for advise and help should I need to talk to anyone. Without the friendships I have developed within the TF family, I think I would have given in and not being driven to meet my target.
Coach Terri – How would you have achieved this outside of TF coaching and community support
Karen – To be honest with you, I don’t think I could have lost the weight without the support network that I have. I would have tried skipping meals or low GL diet or worst case scenario the cabbage soup diet (but I’ve tried that a few times and get sick of the soup).”
