Katherine Raskatos Joined Terrific Fitness (TF) in December of 2019. Katherine is a working mum and always put her family first at sacrifices to herself. She had tried other group classes at other gyms before, taken up gym memberships to do something herself when she could but had it found difficult to break away into any circle of support that has been hard to find.
Katherine was becoming unhappy with the direction her body and health were going. It came to a point when she knew something had to change and action needed to be taken.
As well as the fitness, weight loss, and better choices in eating, Katherine wanted to change something for herself and put her needs as a priority as well as the family in some way, and she found it through TF. Over the five months that she has been with TF, Katherine has achieved some incredible results and continues to work on her goals. Covid19 may have thrown a spanner in the works, but the most important aspect of the change is that she has been able to stay with TF, the trainers, the training, and the community to continue to build on her goals. Some of the awesome results include:
- Has dropped an incredible 16kg since joining
- Increasing her cardio fitness
- Being able to improve her nutrition better knowledge gained by the TF coaching staff
- Found options in training regimes that she looks forward to week by week
- Satisfaction in her results that the training and nutrition is working
- Has found a community of supportive people
- Pride in doing something for herself whilst still being committed to her family’s needs
Before the Covid19 lock-down, Katherine participated in approximately two sessions a week, depending on her busy schedule. Since the lock-down she has been grateful that TF is still able to function online and provide the online training sessions, both via live zoom and the fitness app, and regularly does two to three sessions a week as well as walk with family and uses her exercise bike. Enthusiasm and support from her coaches have given Katherine the presence of mind to keep with the program and be a part of a community of like-minded people.

Katherine was looking for an avenue of support she couldn’t find in the other gyms and exercise groups. She found Terrific Fitness (TF) and watched and saw how the community worked and performed but didn’t have the commitment to join because of uncertainties. In late October Katherine made contact with Terri (TF Coach and Owner) at a fund raising event for mental health. The conversation gave Katherine an insight into TF and caught her attention of what was on offer. Katherine also met other members that day and gained a confident picture of what she could gain and how it could help her.
In December, Katherine took the plunge and signed up. The members, coaches and community at TF gave her a great sense of belonging, confidence and enthusiasm. From the onset, Katherine was guided by Coach Emilia on her nutrition and lifestyle habits in a one on one coaching session. Receiving a detailed action plan on how to improve nutrition, sleep, stress, and other lifestyle factors were the kick-start she needed.
Katherine began making commitments for herself, attending two group sessions a week and more if she could. During Covid19, her participation in the live classes and access to the fitness app workout programs has kept the commitment going at the same rate as well as getting out an about for walks during this period of isolation. Katherine has been able to stick with better food choices through the ongoing advice from Coach Emilia and has taken a real liking to the periodic live online presentations such as “5 Reasons you’re craving sugar”, “Strategies for Improving Nutrition”, and “Why You Self Sabotage and How to Stop” that are presented by Head Coach Terri.
The coaches overall have always been close by for advice on nutrition, training and anything else Katherine has needed assistance with. Coach Emilia began with strategies on better eating and knowledge of foods to avoid. Katherine has made significant simple yet effective changes and continues to improve, gaining more knowledge as she goes and learning about better alternatives.
“I was spying on TF for a few months before I made any move to join. I saw the team shirt at a fund raiser walk in the city and found Terri the coach and went up to chat to her. Along with the other members that day I got to know more about what goes on and joined up in December. It was after I tipped the scales at my heaviest weight ever that I said to myself, it’s time to sign up. I knew what TF had to offer. Since then, my knowledge of exercise and nutrition in particular has grown. I’m making better decisions with my food.
The biggest stand out about TF is it’s about being part of this group and community. The interaction here at TF has been a better experience compared to other gyms I tried. The support from the coaches and the check-ups. If I haven’t been to a session for a week, I get a call from the staff to see how I am. That check-in is an accountability for me now and I like that. It makes me feel as though the group is there for me.
I have learnt so many things but by far it’s eating better. Although I haven’t committed a 100% to changing habits, the habits of excluding or reducing some foods has made a difference. The coaches have been the greatest motivators in my eating habits and I’ll get around to stepping it up further with their help in time to come. But for now I can see how the changes they suggested, and the examples of the other members has made a difference to me in losing 16kg in body weight.
