Today we Celebrate the beautiful Rita Koutsournas
When Rita first joined us, she was suffering from sleep deprivation which was stressing her body out, and aches and pains all around her body. Rita also struggled with the fact she prioritised everybody else in her life and neglected the self-care she needed to keep herself going. Over the past three years we have seen Rita grow by learning and implementing what she learns. We have watched Rita create relationships and bonds and have watched her mobility increase immensely, improving the life she leads day to day.
When Rita first began training with us her knees and her back gave her heaps of grief. With no prior knowledge on how to combat the pain, Rita was left suffering and having to deal with the pain all on her own whilst also dealing with everything else she had going on in her life. Although still having some aches and pains now, Rita is much more educated and has knowledge on what may be contributing to her pain and how to release any tightness or how to avoid anything that may aggravate it. Rita learned that pain is not the be all and end all and to ask questions to further understand why she feels the way she does. Rita is seen every training day, releasing her muscles before and after class, because she has seen the reward of investing in her mobility and the positive effect it has on her quality of life.
Rita has also participated in our Nutrition Coaching Program to assist in resetting her hormones that were giving her grief especially in regard to her eating habits. Through the process Rita learned what to eat and how to eat correctly for her body especially in the stages her body was entering as a female. She learned the impact of food and the importance of getting enough nutrients into her body. Rita has since implemented tools from the program into her lifestyle to create better eating patterns and relationships with her food.
Through the past three years Rita has learned that prioritising herself was the only way she could keep everyone afloat. Rita always comes to training with purpose and drive for her goals and sometime that goal is to just distract her mind on a difficult day. Through this mindset shift Rita has become much calmer and can now identify when she needs to take time out to focus on herself.
Rita has become stronger physically and mentally, she has created relationships within the studio that she identifies as family and now cherishes every moment of the life she lives.
We are incredibly proud of you Rita and the progress that you have made through your journey! Keep up all your amazing work!

Rita is an absolute treat to train! She is quirky and cheeky, always having fun training, and she puts in 110% whilst having a laugh. She will never back away from a challenge and always pushes herself in classes.
Rita, I just wanted to take this opportunity to tell you how proud of you I am and how inspiring you are to me! You are the epitome of resilience and discipline. No matter what’s going on in your life, you never fail to turn up, do your best, and smile whilst you are at it. Thank you for enriching my life and those around you. You are a very special woman and I want you to be just as proud of yourself as I am of you. A true role model for your kids. Congratulations on your incredible journey.

Here is Rita’s story in her words:
“When I first joined Terrific Fitness in 2020 I was suffering heavily from a lack of sleep. I was achy with knee and back issues with no knowledge on how to combat my pain. I had no relationship with exercise aside from walking maybe once or twice a week and more than anything I had no knowledge of why taking care of myself was of utmost importance.
As I started to enter Menopause, I developed terrible eating habits, my hormones had taken over, and my body was suffering from it. I decided that I had to do something about it. I stumbled across Terrific Fitness on a Facebook ad, and I haven’t looked back since!
I joined Terrific Fitness from looking at the business page as well as speaking to the staff members, the business was not pretentious. The staff were all interested in the person as whole on the other end of the conversation. No matter who I spoke to all their views were level and the same, they were interested in me as a person, my worries and how to help me.
I love Terrific Fitness because of the accountability that I have with the coaches and the administration team. They ensure that I continuously set goals even when I don’t want to, which keeps me on my toes and thinking. They check up on me when I haven’t been in attendance, they strategize with me on how to get my feet back on track, and I know that every time that I walk in, it’s like I never left.
I have learned now the important of food in my life, and have taken away a tool of rewording the times that I eat to call them all ‘meals’ to ensure I get the 4 I need throughout the day. I am now also educated on what constitutes of a whole meal and what foods my body needs to thrive.
My exercise life before joining Terrific Fitness was practically non-existent. Aside from walking 1-2 times in a week maybe, I now train 3-4+ group fitness classes during the week!
Since joining Terrific Fitness, I am now able to sleep better, I am more focused and I’ve built a lot more strength than I had previously! I am now more educated in many aspects of my health, including the importance of food, mobility and how to relieve my aches and pains. I have learnt and found value in investing in myself and my health, and I have built up friends who are not just friends to me they are family.
Throughout my journey I have learnt to chill and take time for myself because I can’t give from an empty cup. I have also learned that life is precious and every single moment is important so to cherish them all.
I love that I am more focused on taking time for myself and I have met so many wonderful people. I am so thankful for this decision that I made to join and I am beyond grateful for the family that has been created.
If you are thinking about joining my advice would be – Give it a go!” – Rita Koutsournas
