
Today we celebrate the legendary Shelly West!
Shelly joined TF August last year, participating in our 28 Day Kickstarter. She then went on to join our weekly Group Fitness membership and eventually added Personal Training (PT) to her regime.
Shelly started making incredible changes straight away! In fact, so much so we shared her initially progress on socials back in September.
In October Shelly took up PT with me, Coach Terri. When Shelly submitted her first food diary the biggest stand out were the 8+ coffees she was drinking each day. We got to reducing those gradually straight away. Today Shelly enjoys only 2-4 cups of coffee and feels so much better for it!
We went on to improve a number of her nutrition and lifestyle habits to help her improve all areas of her bio-feedbacks. These are the indicators that tell us what is going on, on the inside, that then reflect what we see on the outside.
All the while, we work on her movement pattern improving mobility and technique. Shelly is now performing so much better in training, with excellent technique, building her strength and fitness. She is even working on heavy lifts with Rack Pulls, which she would never have given a thought to, when she first started.
Since making all her changes and continuing to improve each week, Shelly has dropped 10 years in her basal metabolic age (how old you are at cellular level compared to biological). She has dropped 11.8kg in weight, with 9.9kg being pure body fat. Shelly has dropped 3 levels of visceral fat and improved her hydration by 4.3%! These are huge numbers in just 5 months!
Her confidence has sky rocketed and she is glowing!

Here is Shelly story in her words:
“Before starting at TF, I ‘thought’ my eating habits weren’t too bad…. how wrong I was, haha!!
Turns out that a lot of what I was eating wasn’t agreeing with my body and as a result it was causing a lot of inflammation (and pain) within my body.
When I joined TF, I was lacking in confidence, my anxiety levels were through the roof, I was gaining & carrying weight in places I never had before, constantly tired, the list goes on. Coach Emilia & Coach Terri gave me the tools, guidance, support & encouragement with not only my eating habits & training but most importantly my mindset.
It enabled me to understand what was happening to my body & what changes I had to make in order to feel somewhat ‘normal’ again.
Like a lot of people, the thought of group fitness was a little daunting initially, but I knew I had to do something & step outside of my comfort zone, as my weight & health was spiralling out of control. I remember being extremely nervous turning up for my first group class BUT the members & staff alike made me feel so comfortable & supported…needless to say, I haven’t looked back since joining TF back in August (after coming across their Facebook post).
I have gone from starting off doing 3 classes a week to currently doing around 6, plus 1 x PT (personal training) session. Everybody is like minded and are all so supportive. There is absolutely no judgment whatsoever….it felt so right from the get-go.
I was starting to see positive results within only a few short weeks, so much so that I wanted to take things to the next level with my strength training, so I decided to reach out to be PT’d (in addition to my group fitness).
Best thing I ever did! Coach Terri is like a little book of knowledge and has taught me so much about my technique, how certain foods affect my body & my mindset. I had been struggling with a niggly hip & Terri identified what the problem was & has worked with me to help improve my mobility.
Since joining Terrific Fitness 5 months ago, I have lost around 11kg’s in body weight, gained strength, fitness, mobility & confidence. I am now a lot more aware of how certain foods & drinks affect me and am able to make healthier choices.
My sleep quality has improved. I am generally a lot happier within myself.
Coaches Emilia, Jamie, Stephen & Terri know that I am capable of so much more than what I believe I am & they push me accordingly. I have to admit that I leave every single class & PT session feeling so EMPOWERED. I am so grateful to them all.
