There is a formula for success. It’s not enough to want something. It’s not enough to just set goals. You need to know what you want, WHY you want it, and then do what it takes to achieve it. Doing the work takes some level of sacrifice, or enduring something, to achieve that success. If you want to get fitter, you can’t just join a gym, you need to attend and actually train. If you want to get leaner, you need to change your nutrition. If you want to make money, you will need to work for it in some way. Achievements require actions and actions require some level of sacrifice.
Sometimes the sacrifice is time, it could be sacrificing money, or it could be sacrificing something in your lifestyle. If you want to get fitter, you need to sacrifice the time to train. You may need to sacrifice money for a gym membership. You may have to endure sore muscles as part of the process. If you want to get leaner, you will need to sacrifice time for meal prep, some aspects of your lifestyle where you can’t continue to eat whatever, whenever you want.
If you have determined your goal but haven’t determine the reason WHY you want to achieve it, you won’t achieve it. If you focus on the sacrifice and what you need to endure, rather than what you are trying to achieve, and WHY you want to achieve it, you will not enjoy the ride at all. You will feel deprived, you will struggle mentally, get frustrated, you will self-sabotage and you will eventually give up.
Focusing on what you want to achieve, the goal, and WHY you want to achieve it, is the most important part of success. Once you have established WHY you want to achieve something, you will find that the sacrifice you will have to make, will come easily. You will be prepared to endure whatever it takes, in order to get what you want. And you will be prepared to do the work, without feeling deprived, without self-sabotage and without struggling.
The formula for success is simple, it’s just not easy:
1. Determine what you want to achieve.
2. Determine WHY you want to achieve it.
3. Ascertain what you will need to do to achieve it.
4. What will you need to sacrifice, if anything?
5. What will you have to endure?
What are you prepared to sacrifice and endure in order to succeed?
