We see it time and time again, where a person loses weight, be it a small or large amount, and after a while they start to gain it back again. This happens when they stop following the plan that helped them drop the weight in the first place. Other contributing factors could be health issues such as thyroid disfunction or adrenal strain, or a change in their hormones due to the stage of life they are in, for example menopause. They gain it easier the second time round, or third, or fourth etc. because of the number of fat cells the person accumulates over time. On the contrast, someone who has never been overweight, will not gain weight as easily. Why can a person gain weight easier if they have previously been overweight? Because fat cells multiply.
Fat cells multiply
When a person starts to gain weight, their fat cells start to become engulfed with fat and toxins. The cells will enlarge to a certain degree. When they cannot enlarge any further, they produce more fat cells to accommodate the extra fat and toxins requiring storage.
Fat cells do not just disappear
Unfortunately, once these fat cells have been created, they will not just disappear as the fat is burned away and toxins eliminated. Instead, they will merely shrink, waiting for the time they will be required to store extra fat.
Solution
If you are someone who has gained weight and then leaned up, you will need to continue to follow the plan that helped you drop the weight in the first place. If you revert to eating the way you were, and/or the quantity you were consuming, before dropping weight, you will regain all that lost fat, often gaining even more than you dropped in the first place.
You need to make the plan, your new lifestyle rather than dropping weight by simply followed a ‘diet’ that is not sustainable for the rest of your life.
This is way ‘diets’ don’t work long term.
Over diets. Find a nutrition plan that works for you that helps you get lean and stay lean, in a way that works within your lifestyle.
